The sunsets on the Oregon coast had been gorgeous that week. I went out with a friend to attempt to capture one live in paint. We started in the afternoon, laying down our underpaintings, getting our sunset colors mixed and ready on our palettes for what was coming. As the sun dipped lower in the sky, the color show began and we hurried to capture it. Brushes were flying! I never realized how quickly a sunset passes as we scrambled to keep up. We were blessed with this gorgeous sky and were left quite out of breath from the effort. We packed up in the dark and feeling exhausted and joyous from the chase.
About the Artist, Tara lives in Eugene, Oregon, USA, where she is surrounded and inspired by an abundance of natural beauty. Her interest in art began at a young age. She studied Fine Arts at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and had an early career as a designer and maker of art jewelry. For the past 20 years, she has been working as a graphic designer, painter, and illustrator. Tara Kemp is a creature of the Northwest. Through her paintings she reflects on her extraordinary life in Oregon, the people and places she encounters. She is a values painter.
